18 May 2015 – Lliber to Senija

Nice to see Wendy and Sue back walking with us again, for this repeat of the CBMW walk we did recently.   David led the walk, and added an extension up to the cross above Senija.

Wendy was very pleased to show off her new pride and joy, which she insisted was red.   It did, and does, look very pink to me!

The walk started by climbing up past the church and the Stations of the Cross.

It was a reminder of how attractive Lliber can be, even though it does not seem it when you have that endless wait for the traffic lights to change followed by the drive through the narrow main road.

The first part of the walk is along a good track through the woods, very enjoyable on this cool and sunny morning.

The main attraction of this walk, for me,  are the long views back through the Jalon Valley to the mountains beyond.

The path is good enough to allow for looking around, though there are a few sections where it is degraded and requires care and attention.

There are also a few scrambles up, or down.   With the dry weather we have had lately the ground was very dry making these sections easier than when wet and muddy.

After a short visit to the cross we began the descent down to Senija

Although the temperatures are well down on last week, the trees shaded seating at the back of the church were very welcome for our picnic lunch.

Leaving the village someone spotted some passion flowers, and half the group stopped to admire them.  The remainder plodded on!

The parasol, or sun umbrella, section has grown to three since last week.  The last section back to Lliber is very exposed, and the early afternoon sun was pretty hot.

The bar was much less crowded than last Saturday, and we were soon seated under the shade of the tree with welcome cold drinks.   Except for Pat who had a very large ice cream.

Next week will be our last walk before the summer break, and will be Javea to Portitxol.   Pat has decided that we will meet at the usual start point, rather than the usual Masymas car park. I have no idea what it is called, but it is where we usually leave the cars and commence the walk.   If anyone is not sure give Pat and ring and she will give you directions.
