We had a good turn out for our last walk before the summer
break, possibly encouraged by an invitation to Wendy’s house for an end of
season BBQ.
This is a lovely walk, as well as being our regular start
and end of season walk. The first part is
a nice level walk along the beach.
However this is followed by a steep climb, without the
benefit of a path or track.
After the climb there is a welcome spot to take a well
deserved rest............
..............and watch the locals at play
When we reach the headland there is a picnic area, where Ken
and Moira have a rest and a chat
We often do an extension down to Sardine Bay, with its views
back to Javea. Not to mention the steep
climb back up to the headland
We took some photos as a reminder of the walk, with Pat and
Peter appearing to be saying a fond farewell.
In fact it was their reaction to someone suggesting that they not stand
too close together for the photo.
As we reached the end of the headland we had a short break
for a banana stop........
........and to take in the beautiful view back to Javea with
Montgo behind
Peter appeared to want to find some peace and quiet to watch
the boats
And finally we reached Portitxol beach, which was unusually
quiet for such a lovely day
Then it was time for the BBQ which John and
Wendy had kindly prepared. Lots of
good food, good drink and good company - plus a toast to absent friends
We also played a knock out football competition, which
proved to be very loud and great fun
28 September 2015
The next walk will be a repeat of today’s Javea to
Portitxol. Same place, same time. Meet at 10am.
Thanks to everyone for another enjoyable walking
season. We are looking forward to more
good walking after the summer break.
